Frame your face in the most pleasing way possible

Even as children, some of us become aware that our ears are not proportional to the rest of our face. While this can cause youthful embarrassment, it causes even greater social discomfort for an adult.

Otoplasty is the cosmetic procedure that restores a more normal appearance to the ears by altering their size or contour so they do not protrude. During the consultation process, Dr. Beltran will evaluate your individual physical characteristics and discuss the results you would like to achieve. The surgery usually performed by making incisions behind the ear. Because sutures are placed behind the ear, there are no incisions or scarring in front of the ears. The results from surgery are ears that are more closely positioned to the head, and more anatomically pleasing.

Following surgery, you will wear a dressing or bandage to ensure that your ears are held in the new position. The dressing is worn constantly for four to five days. Most patients return to work in one week after surgery, and may resume athletic activities in approximately ten days. After an otoplasty, you will see an immediate dramatic improvement in your appearance. No aftercare procedures will be required. Dr. Beltran will put fourth his best effort to achieve the best results for each patient that are most aesthetically pleasing, long lasting, and of course, most natural.

Q: Will I have a scar?
A: While scars are the result of any surgical procedure, the incisions are made in the back of the ear in the natural crease and will be unnoticeable several months after surgery.

Q: When can I resume my normal activities?
A: Adults may return to work in five days, while children may return to school in a week.

Q: Is general anesthesia necessary?
A: No. Adults who undergo this procedure are usually given a combination of local anesthesia and sedation. In most cases, children who undergo this procedure are given general anesthesia.
