You too can have a slender abdomen.

This procedure is recommended for those whose abdominal wall and skin are irreversibly stretched, and when exercise and diet have not solved the problem. An Abdominoplasty or "tummy tuck" will remove  excess skin and fat from the mid to lower abdomen, and tighten the muscles of the abdominal wall. This procedure dramatically reduces a protruding abdomen. Potential patients who will benefit most from Abdominoplasty are those who have already lost weight, and women who have already completed the childbearing process. In the consultation process with Dr. Beltran, a determination will be made on the extent of fat deposits in your abdominal region, followed by an assessment of your skin tone. He will then be able to recommend the procedure that creates results most appropriate for you.

Abdominoplasty is an outpatient procedure that is often begun with a thin incision from hipbone to hipbone just above the pubic area. Liposuction is usually performed at this point to remove excessive abdominal fat prior to the "tuck." The skin is then separated from the abdominal wall revealing the vertical muscles.

These muscles are tightened and plicated into place. The skin is then stretched down allowing excess skin to be removed. The incisions are stitched and a dressing applied. For the first few days after surgery, patients may experience moderate pain and discomfort. The sutures that are placed dissolve on their own, and patients may resume low-grade exertion in two weeks; and eventually weight bearing exercise or high exertion within four weeks. No aftercare procedures are required. A very thin, flat scar is inconspicuously hidden under the panty line. For people who exercise and diet accordingly, the results are long lasting and enjoyable. Dr. Beltran will put forth his best effort to achieve the results for each patient that are most aesthetically pleasing, long lasting, and most natural.

After doing your best to stay healthy and fit, imagine finally having the slender, toned abdomen that you deserve.

Q: How big is the incision?
A: The incision ranges from the size of a thumb to the length from  hipbone to hipbone, above the pubic area, depending upon the patient's needs.

Q: How long is recovery?
A: Most patients resume low-grade activity and return to work after two weeks and begin more vigorous activity after four weeks.

Q: Will I have a visible scar?
A: The scar, which is usually very thin and well hidden in the crease above the pubic bone, will not show under most clothing, even bathing suits.

Q: When will I see results?
A: You will see results immediately with continuing improvement over a period of several months.
